Founded in January of 1997 as the first Minnesota newspaper written completely in Spanish, Gente de Minnesota distributes 20,000 copies weekly throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. The newspaper features three sections dedicated to local news, world news, and entertainment news.

Demographics:
The Primary Demographic is recent immigrants who have lived here 8 years or
less. These readers are primarily from Mexico, work in blue-collar level jobs
and have limited English skills. Most maintain full-time or part-time positions;
many have multiple jobs. The Secondary Demographic is Latino Professionals.
This segment is bilingual and consumes mainstream media, however, use Gente
to stay informed on news and events occurring within the Latino community.
Readers range between 25-65-years-old.
Distribution:
20,000 copies. Published every Thursday. Every weekend 10,000 latino households
receive Gente at their doorstep, the other 10,000 are distributed to over
300 locations throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. Readership
is estimated at 70,000 (3.5 readers per household).
